Where Over-the-Top Lodging is Still Down to Earth
Our heli skiing lodge, Bear Claw, is your home away from home in the Skeena Mountains, a 15,000-square-foot timber lodge set on the Kispiox River, overlooked by Baldy Mountain, and surrounded by 2.3 million acres of pristine wilderness.
The post and beam structure is built from local materials around a three-story river stone fireplace, with not one nail in the entire lodge. The design is inspired by the First Nation people and the pioneering tradition of the region.
A standout feature of our heli skiing lodge is The Great Room and its majestic centrepiece; a crackling fireplace which welcomes spirited conversation or quiet reflection after a day of riding deep snow.
Heli Skiing Lodge LifeChill & Recharge
Relax aching muscles in the river stone jacuzzi and cedar sauna after a post-ski massage. Alternatively, catch up on a racy page-turner in the comfortable armchairs in the library. Or challenge your fellow skiers to a round of cards, pool, foosball or darts in the games room.
If you’re still feeling energetic, go ice skating or play a game of hockey on our outdoor ice rink, or head out for a cross-country ski and explore the river and forests surrounding the lodge.
Exquisite FoodThe Skeena Culinary Experience
Fuel up for heli skiing on mouth-watering food made with local produce.
From convivial meals around the table in front of the crackling fire, to homemade baked goods on the slopes, to après ski mulled wine and fondue in front of a bonfire, meals at Bear Claw Lodge are as memorable as they’re delicious.
The kitchen is the heart of the action. Help the chefs prepare food, whip up your own regional specialty, or swap recipes and sip wine. Surprisingly, you might even be part of an impromptu performance by the Bear Claw kitchen band.
Guests stay in one of 8 charming, and uniquely themed rooms, each with ensuite bathrooms. We are in the heart of Gitxsan First Nation country, and we’ve worked with local artists to design rooms with handcrafted beds and furniture, luxurious bedding, and locally sourced art, making each room a haven for body and imagination.
