Start Your Own Come Back Story
The reasons to join us are clear: deep snow on beautiful mountain peaks. Year after year, we take return guests back to fresh territory in the Skeenas. They keep coming back.
Finding New Territory for Old Friends is Easy
At Skeena Heliskiing, we have over 2.35 million acres (9,525 km2) of pristine snow waiting for you. Experience the freedom to explore a vast vertical playground of bowls, chutes, glades and tree skiing, whether you’re a new heli-skier or part of the extended Skeena family of repeat guests.
While bigger truly is better when it comes to terrain, vertical, and elevation, a smaller setting satisfies the soul when it comes to life at Bear Claw Lodge. The relationship our staff has with return guests is special. Some have been coming back since we opened in 2004.
There’s always a crackling fire in the hearth, hearty food in the oven, and laughter in the air at Skeena Heliskiing.
The World’s Finest Heliskiing is Canadian…and we’re the peak of Canadian skiing
Less People + More Terrain = Better Skiing
At Skeena, we have figured out the best way to go heli skiing. For example, we use two helicopters to get you out into the mountain quicker. The industry standard package includes 100,000 feet of vertical per week. The thing is, we ski much more than that thanks to our small group format and use of 2 helicopters to get groups in and out of the mountains, plus quick access to our closest runs. That’s why our guests average 137,795ft (42,000m) per week on our Two Group and Private Helicopter programs.
The good news is we don’t charge extra for extra vert. We call this Unlimited Vertical, and it sits at the centre of Skeena’s skiing. No worries about hidden charges or wondering if you’re getting enough. No competition for turns. We go until it’s the end of the ski day, or earlier if you’re begging for the hot tub and the casually haute cuisine.
One of the Biggest Heli Skiing Destinations in the World
In the vast Skeena Mountain Range, we ski 2.35 million acres of wide-open bowls, pillows, chutes, and tree skiing. Every group is small. Unlimited Vertical. Rarely a down day. This is the best way to go heli skiing.
From our wilderness luxury lodge, we deliver you to the top of the first run in as little as six minutes. Only a dozen (12) guests visit each week, and we move them around in different configurations (i.e. choose from 1 group per helicopter for the ultimate private experience, or 2-3 groups for the standard program). Whichever way it ends up, you will fly and ski with only three others plus a guide.
COME FOR THE SKIING. RETURN TO FAMILY
Bear Claw Lodge is a 15,000-square-foot timber lodge built on the Kispiox River, and on a legacy of gathering and good times. Floor-to-ceiling views. Home-cooked food with a culinary twist. An impossibly friendly staff. You’ll feel at home.
The Great Room and its crackling fireplace are only outmatched by the welcoming warmth of our staff. We share meals around communal dinner tables. An open-concept kitchen invites conversation and comradery. Occasionally the kitchen erupts in live music. It’s how we show appreciation for you. Everyone is welcome to join.
For those who seek quiet reflection after a day in the mountains, the lofted library brims with intriguing books and comfortable armchairs. It’s also the perfect place for a massage or well-earned nap.
One of the most rewarding aspects of heli skiing is sharing stories with others; an entertainment room downstairs features a river stone hot tub, a bar, pool table, foosball, and other games.
